This Grow Taller Secret Series is produced to help you understand the science behind our height; with the hope that you will be able to grow some inches.

If you have studied biology in your school days, you would have known that the body is a great piece of biological equipment.  Essentially the body is made of a strong movable frame (the skeleton) and this frame is surrounded by a series of strong flexible muscles.  These muscles in turn would be connected to the skeleton by what is known as ligaments.

This God given make up allows us to move around almost at our will with a great degree of freedom and control.  But the sad part is that due to the nature of our lives nowadays, many of us develop a poor posture.

What does that mean?  In a nutshell, it means that we are unable to hold our body in proper position when we are doing our daily stuff such as walking, standing or sitting.  Like it or not, this can be a concern as a good posture do provide us many benefits.  A strong spine and a higher sense of self confidence are but two of such benefits.  Also it does give the impression that we are strong, intelligent and capable.

One of the major and serious negative effect from having a poor posture is that it actually effectively reduce your height and make you look shorter.

So, if you are looking for ways to grow taller naturally (I assume that is the reason why you are reading this article), this becomes a major concern as height and posture have an impact on each other.

Next time when you are in the mall, make an observation about the aging people around you.  You would probably see that aging people can begin to stoop over and their spines start to hunch forward.  What this means is that many older folks would look substantially shorter than you.  In actual fact, they are NOT shorter.  What has actually happen is that the poor posture they develop as they age gives us an impression that they have grown shorter.

Let us not look only at the aging group of people.  Nowadays, many working people spend hours sitting at their desks which means that for some, they are holding their bodies in a bad posture for hours at a time, each and every day.  Over time, this can lead to permanent poor posture.  Since posture and height are closely linked together, these people would appear to be shorter.

The conclusion of the matter is that good posture is vital to maintain a good height.

Regarding posture related problems, we have listed below the 5 most common:

1)  Tilted Pelvis
The pelvis has a huge impact on your posture and your height.  Overweight and obese individuals will sometimes develop a problem known as “tilted pelvis”.  This happens when the weak stomach muscles allows the weight to “pull” the pelvis forward.  This leads to a poor posture that in turn will make the person shorter.

2)  Knock-Knees and Bow-Legs
Both conditions are the opposite to one another but both have the negative effect on posture and height. Those in this group tend to walk with the majority of their weight either on the out-step or the in-step.  This sort of gait will lead to poor posture which will make the person shorter.

3)  Rounded Shoulders
The sufferer has an abnormality in the shape of the curvature of his/her spine which forces the shoulders to push forward and make that someone hunched over.  As these individual would be bending forward, that is why they would be losing inches.

4)  Joint and Foot Pain
Poor posture can lead to problems surrounding the feet and joints.  The poorly aligned skeletal system places unnecessary pressure on areas where they are not designed for.

5)  Chronic Disorders
If the posture is not corrected, in the long term, chronic disorders can set in.  Poor posture does result in poor blood circulation which over time can develop into problems with the bodily functions and internal organs.

Though shocking it may be, to prevent such problems from developing, it is never to late. But you must take concrete steps to improve your posture.
